We are actively seeking referrals for the next cycle of the Strengthening Families Program (SFP) which will be held in Gridley starting September 14th.
Location: Gridley – Wilson Elementary School *This cycle will be dedicated to parents and youth ages 7-11.
SFP is an evidence-based program, meeting weekly, focused on parenting skills and family/child life skills. Every family is partnered with a caring and compassionate Early Intervention staff member who is dedicated to the supporting the family throughout the program experience. And there is no cost to participate! Families will meet weekly – each session starts with a family dinner where they discuss the successes and challenges their family experienced that week. After dinner, each group attends breakout sessions (Parents/Youth) to review weekly curriculum skill sessions. The breakout skill sessions are designed to improve family communication, reduce family conflict, provide effective tools to build relationships, maintain healthy expectations, and reinforce appropriate consequences, etc. Participants will return from break out groups and end the evening with a family session – where the families work with their coach on the new skills they just learned and make plans to implement throughout the upcoming week. In addition to the weekly meals & free childcare for siblings 0-6 YO, the program works to incentivize program completion with a graduation celebration. Please keep in mind this cycle requires an 11-week commitment.
We would love to have you identify families who could benefit from this program experience. Once we receive a completed referral form, we will follow up for more information prior to contacting the parent/caregiver to answer any questions they have, review the program expectations, etc. Please use the following link for referrals: Strengthening Families Program – Referral Fall 2026 Survey
Testimonials:
“The first thing I have learned is how to control my anger and how to communicate more with my family and spend more time with my mom. At first, I thought this was pointless, but in the end, I realized that it actually helped my relationship a lot with my mom. I learned how to treat my family and others with respect. I will keep on working on my self-control and respect skills from SFP.” -Youth Participant

“I feel differently now about it. My mom and me have such a better relationship now. I feel like I can talk freely to my mom about anything. I learned how not to blame and how to accept criticism.” -Youth Participant
