The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is an evidence-based family skills training program that is recognized both nationally and internationally. Parents and youth attend weekly SFP skills classes together, learning parenting skills and youth life and refusal skills. Each week will include a family dinner, separate class trainings for parents and youth ages 7-11 and 12-17 years of age, followed by a joint family practice session to close out the evening. SFP 7-17 is intended to serve the entire family which includes childcare for children ages 6 and under. Meals are included each week.
The Spring 2026 SFP cycle will be held in Chico and will start on January 26th and conclude May 4th. Please contact 530.891.2891 for more information. We would love to have you identify families who could benefit from this program experience. Once we receive a completed referral form, we will follow up for more information prior to contacting the parent/caregiver to answer any questions they have, review the program expectations, etc. Please use the following link for referrals: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TWTR679
Testimonials:
“The first thing I have learned is how to control my anger and how to communicate more with my family and spend more time with my mom. At first, I thought this was pointless, but in the end, I realized that it actually helped my relationship a lot with my mom. I learned how to treat my family and others with respect. I will keep on working on my self-control and respect skills from SFP.” -Youth Participant

“I feel differently now about it. My mom and me have such a better relationship now. I feel like I can talk freely to my mom about anything. I learned how not to blame and how to accept criticism.” -Youth Participant
